Ingredients

For the sponge cake

  • 4 eggs
  • 8 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp semolina
  • 6 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 1 packet of vanilla

For the syrup:

  • 4 cups of milk (If possible; a mixture of goat, buffalo, and cow's milk)
  • 1 tbsp milk powder
  • 200 ml cream

For the caramel sauce:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 200 ml cream
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. For the sponge cake, separate the egg yolks and whites. After adding a pinch of salt to the egg whites, beat them with a mixer at high speed until they become stiff.
  2. Whisk the egg yolks in a separate bowl with a mixer until foamy.
  3. After adding semolina, sifted flour, baking powder, and vanilla, continue whisking until all the ingredients are smooth.
  4. Mix the whipped egg whites with the help of a spatula from bottom to top with gentle movements.
  5. Butter the oven dish. Pour the sponge cake mixture into the mold and smooth the top. Bake in a preheated 160-degree oven for 45 minutes.
  6. For the milky syrup of the dessert, mix the cold milk, cream, and milk powder with a whisk. Let the baked dessert stand for 20 minutes to cool down.
  7. Pour the prepared milk syrup over the dessert little by little, with the help of a ladle. After the syrup is over, remove the remaining milk foam from the dessert.
  8. For the caramel sauce, put the granulated sugar in a small sauce pot. Melt the sugar over low heat until the sugar is completely melted and the color starts to get darker. Add the cream to it while stirring quickly, and fully incorporate the cream into the melted sugar.
  9. Finally, add the butter, remove it from the stove, and stir until it has melted. Let the caramel sauce stand to cool, and then spread it over the dessert that has absorbed the syrup. After resting it in the refrigerator, slice and serve. Bon appetit!
