Mexican nachos are indispensable for social gatherings. Consumed at least as much in America as in Mexico, nachos are prepared with tortilla chips and a cheese-based sauce. If the ingredients are ready, we can move on to the details of the Mexican nachos recipe.

For the batter

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 400 g of minced meat
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • Salt
  • 60 ml of water
  • 1 large tortilla chip
  • 2 cups grated cheddar
  • 2 cups grated similar cheese to the cheddar cheese of your choice
  • 400 g Mexican beans (drained)
  • 100 g pickled jalapeno

For the topping:

  • 1 large tomato (chopped)
  • 1 avocado (chopped)
  • ½ cup finely sliced green onion
  • Sour cream (for drizzling)
  • Hot sauce (for drizzling)


  1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees.
  2. Heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened, then add the mince and cook for a further 6 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and taco seasoning and season with salt. Cook until the meat is well browned and slightly crispy; cook for another 5 minutes. Add water to the pan and stir.
  4. On a baking tray lined with baking paper, add half of the tortilla chips and half of all the remaining ingredients. Top it with another layer of the same layer.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes until the cheese melts.
  6. Sprinkle with tomato, avocado, and green onion. Drizzle with sour cream and hot sauce, and serve immediately. Enjoy your meal.
